Take the Pressure Off

Scripture

Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Devotional Reflection

Stillness feels uncomfortable in a world built on urgency. We are constantly encouraged to move faster, decide quicker, and prove that we are keeping up. Over time, pressure starts to feel normal, even spiritual.

But God speaks differently.

Psalm 46:10 does not tell us to hurry and trust Him. It tells us to be still and remember who He is. Stillness is not inactivity, it is awareness. It is choosing to pause long enough to remember that God is present, capable, and not dependent on our frantic movement.

When we rush, we often move ahead of wisdom. When we slow down, clarity has room to rise. God is not threatened by your pace. What He has for you will not expire if you take a breath.

You do not have to rush this season of your life. God is not watching the clock, He is walking with you.

Application Questions

Where have I been feeling unnecessary pressure lately?

What am I afraid will happen if I slow down?

What would it look like to trust God with my pace this week?

Prayer

God, help me release the pressure I have been carrying. Teach me to trust You enough to slow down. Quiet my spirit, steady my thoughts, and help me move at the speed of peace. Amen.
