Beautifully Blended
Scripture
Colossians 3 verse 14
Above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect unity.
Devotional Reading
Blending a family is one of the greatest tests and invitations God gives us. It is a test because it exposes our insecurities, our habits, and our need for control. It is an invitation because it draws us into deeper grace, deeper patience, and a deeper awareness of God’s heart for unity.
In our early years as a blended family, we learned quickly that unity is not automatic. It is practiced. It is chosen. It is repeated even when emotions run high. We discovered that our children needed stability more than explanations. They needed consistency more than perfection. They needed a mother and father who would stand as one, even when it would have been easier to stand apart.
God taught us to see our children not through their behaviors but through their healing process. He helped us understand that blending requires time, tenderness, and spiritual grounding. And He revealed that unity is not just between husband and wife. It is also united with Him, the third partner in every parenting decision and every emotional moment.
Love becomes the glue. Love becomes the anchor. Love becomes the proof that God is shaping something bigger than the challenges you see. When you put on love, unity becomes possible. Stability becomes possible. Healing becomes possible. And what began as two families becomes one story of grace.
